Creator Comment
I've always been unable to make a decisive choice, always stalling. I lost time to busyness and entertainment. Gradually, I began to think 「一度きりの人生でこんなことで迷ってるってバカバカしくないか?」. That's right, crying out straightforwardly 「行くよ世界の果てまで!」 isn't shameful at all! Alright...! But wait. I must be careful not to act rashly. Adventure requires caution. Reckless action only leads to failure. Looking left (observing the world), looking again (confirming)... and yet I'm still knocking away at the bridge, never actually crossing. Before I know it, time just passes in this stagnant daily life. ...That's the sadness of life I'm singing about. Especially an anthem for our generation who feel slight anxiety about whether we've wasted our lifetime. This was my first time composing using voice synthesis software. While setting up my production environment, the world of vocaloid producers much younger than myself gradually came into view, but what surprised me most was the high quality of their works and their 「自由」 (freedom). The passion for expression is tremendous, both in technique and beyond—I can't keep up. Some even handle everything from composition to performance, mixing, and even MV production all by themselves. What an incredible world of passion. ...Where did this gap come from? How was I when I was young? 「受ける曲を書きなさい」 「逸脱しない曲を書きなさい」 (write songs that appeal / write songs that don't deviate) — no one told me this, yet I was afraid. In my teens when I was most absorbent, I believed 「素人が作曲とか勝手なことをしていいのか。悪いことでは?」 (is it okay for amateurs to compose or do whatever? isn't that wrong?), so I secretly composed for 3 years while hiding it from my parents—wasn't that pretty strange? Did my family have an especially strong atmosphere of conventional morality and social norms? ...Is that an excuse? ...Isn't that way of thinking also wrong? etc. — I spiraled in these thoughts. But eventually I was swept away by the influence of the vocaloid world and those young creators extending from it—MV makers, illustrators, and others. 「好きなように、自分でやりたいように作ろうぜ!」 (Make whatever you like, create however you want!), as if someone were saying this to me.... I was completely swept away by these thoughts and finally mixed my own music for the first time in about 10 years. It changed from 「耳が悪い自分がミックスなんてやっちゃいけない」 (I shouldn't do mixing with my bad ears) to 「今そこに鳴っている曲が気持ちよくて仕方ないところまでやったれ」 (just make what's playing there as pleasant as possible). It took a year to get here, and about a year for the song to be completed...but it feels like one step toward saying goodbye to those days of constantly knocking on the bridge, knocking, knocking until it breaks and can never be crossed.
